How your gifts
to Lott Carey make God’s love real in
Northern India
Lott
Carey’s mission partners were there for you
when an elderly Indian couple, aged 98 and 96, needed
the comforting embrace of those who know a Christ who
never, ever leaves us alone.
Within a short, six-month period, Mr. and Mrs. Peters
endured the sorrowful death of both of their married
sons. This elderly couple then looked to their
daughters-in-law, imagining that the widowed wives of
their two sons would graciously see to their needs.
Unfortunately, the two newly widowed daughters-in-law
were not interested in helping Mr. and Mrs. Peters.
This elderly couple had retired from the working world
many years earlier, before India gained its independence
from Great Britain. Because their employment history was
during those dreadful days of colonial domination, they
had never qualified for a pension.
Grieving and destitute, deserted by their sons’ wives,
they had nowhere to turn.
But through Lott Carey’s caring
mission partners, you were there. You were
there, reaching out with compassion and strength. You
were there, just as the gracious Jesus whom we meet in
the Gospels would surely have been there.
You
were there because your generous gifts to Lott Carey
allowed the India-based Lott Carey Baptist Mission
Charitable Trust to bind up this elderly couple’s broken
hearts, wipe away their tears, and begin to provide for
their day-to-day needs.
The story of Mr. and Mrs.
Peters is just one story among many. Through
Lott Carey’s dedicated mission partners in the Delhi
area of northern India, you are providing HIV/AIDS
education for infected children, critical laboratory
services, and even an income-generation project for
people living with HIV and AIDS (many of them former
squatters from the northwestern edge of Delhi).
In addition, you are providing high-quality primary and
secondary education in a Christian environment for about
7,000 students, many of whom are poor or needy or
physically challenged in some way.
Finally, you are helping to operate five different
residential centers for people suffering for Hansen’s
disease (leprosy). In addition to providing a church
community that is meaningful for the residents of these
centers, you also providing critically important medical
services for more than 32,000 patients a year, most of
them suffering from ailments related to Hansen’s
disease.
Through Lott Carey, you make
God’s love real in Northern India — and
around the world.
