How your gifts
to Lott Carey make God’s love real in
Mozambique
You
were there when the people of Mozambique
struggled to recover from a devastating flood. Rural
families were devastated. Farms and animals were wiped
out. It was an awful time for an already impoverished
people.
The book of Isaiah describes God words to a people who
had known much sorrow, “When you pass through the
waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they
shall not overwhelm you.”
So in Mozambique, when the waters rose and the floods
raged, Lott Carey’s mission partners rallied to embody
God’s ways. Chickens, ducks, pigs, goats, and even
cattle were bought and distributed to eight hundred
families that
were in danger of being overwhelmed. The livestock was
freely given in Christ’s name to Christians and
non-Christians alike, whoever was in need.
Through Lott Carey, you were
there. You stepped in just when the need was
greatest. You stepped in, knowing that the God who calls
us by name would have it no other way.
Between five to seven people were a part of most of the
families who received the much-appreciated new
livestock. So the Baptist Convention of Mozambique, Lott
Carey’s dedicated partner, estimates that the love of
God as described in Isaiah was made real for at least
five thousand people.
In that sense, through the faithful compassion of God’s
own people, a devastating flood was transformed. A flood
of destruction became a river of life, a river of love
flowing clear as crystal from the throne of God — and
you were there to see it happen.
Your partners in Mozambique
minister in other ways as well. The Baptist
Convention of Mozambique reaches many, for example,
through its sensitive evangelism, careful equipping of
new church leaders, and Christ-embodying charity work.
With scholarship assistance from Lott Carey, ministers
and their families have been sent to nearby African
nations to obtain a deeply enriching theological
education. Dreams are emerging for a seminary in
Mozambique someday as well.
Through Lott Carey, you make
God’s love real in Mozambique — and around
the world.
