How your gifts
to Lott Carey make God’s love real in
Uganda
and
Zambia
Lott
Carey was there for you when a young man
named Mukisa visited a mobile clinic in rural Uganda.
Since birth, Mukisa’s health had been poor. For years,
his growth had seemed stunted. Although he was sixteen,
his height suggested someone younger.
Mukisa wondered if there was something wrong with him,
wondered if there was any medicine that could help him.
Lott Carey’s partners in Uganda examined him. They soon
found that Mukisa tested positive for HIV/AIDS. Others
might have rejected him for that, but your partners in
Uganda embraced him. They supplied him with
anti-retroviral drugs at little or no cost, and they
began patiently seeing to his larger medical needs.
With the compassionate care that you provided through
Lott Carey’s dedicated partners, Mukisa is now thriving.
He’s enrolled in a school, and the teachers there say
that he’s an exceptionally bright and active student.
Because Lott Carey was there for you, Mukisa is able to
stand with dignity around God’s throne. Cast aside no
longer, he is able to join in a song with sweet accord.

In both Uganda and Zambia, Lott Carey’s partners are at
work for you.
The AIDS Orphans Education Trust, actively involved in
both countries, provides high-quality testing,
counselling, and support. Low-cost drugs are made
available for prevention and treatment of opportunistic
infections. Education and support for behavior change,
as well as home-based medical care, are offered to all
who are in need. Mobile clinics move into rural areas,
offering diagnosis and treatment of many common
illnesses.
But it doesn’t end there. School fees and scholastic
materials are provided to sponsored children at the
primary, secondary, and university level. Vocational
training and other income-generating projects are
offered to those who have been widowed or orphaned by
the AIDS pandemic so that someday it may truly be said
that “ev’ry tear be dry.”
In addition, a creative “children’s village” has been
established. This remarkable effort empowers families
who would otherwise be too financially strapped to
skillfully adopt one or more AIDS orphans. Thereby,
families are able to offer the steady and enduring love
that is due to every child of the heavenly king. It’s a
way of embodying “the beautiful city of God.”
As you can imagine, all of this is infused with a deep
appreciation for the life-transforming goodness of the
Lord. Every Wednesday, close to two hundred people
gather for Bible study in Lusaka, Zambia. And in Jinja,
Uganda, near the headwaters of the Nile River, more than
three hundred gather weekly to uncover what a songwriter
has rightly called “a thousand sacred sweets.”
Through Lott Carey, you make
God’s love real in Uganda and Zambia — and
around the world.
