Lott Carey Mission School, Liberia
Since
1908, the Lott Carey Mission School in Liberia has
provided high quality education for children in that
country. Until the 1950s, Lott Carey Mission School
was the only accredited high school sponsored by an
African American missionary agency. In 2002, one of
our graduates earned the highest score among 12,000
students taking the West African Examination
Council's test for graduating seniors.
School opened for the 2004 - 2005 academic year with
an enrollment of 1,104 students for both morning and
afternoon sessions. The school has been honored with
recent visits by officials from the United States as
well as the Liberian governments. Earlier in 2004,
Ambassador Pamela Bridgewater, visited from the
United States and addressed the students with a
memorable speech. Mrs. Rosalee Bryant, the First
Lady of Liberia and a former student of Lott Carey
Mission School, visited the campus on October 7,
2004 and dedicated a newly recontructed classroom
building. Mrs. Christina A. Porch, Public Affairs
